HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Aloha Festivals closed a week of Hawaiian cultural festivities on Saturday with entertainment and an appearance by its 2025 Royal Court.
The event took place on Ko Olina’s Ulua Lagoon Lawn from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
This was the first time that Ko Olina hosted Aloha Festivals as it is usually held in Waikiki.
The court was formally welcomed at the start of the event, serving as a reminder of Hawaii royal legacy and history.
The festival brought tradition to West Oahu through live Hawaiian music, lei making demonstrations and sunset hula. Families and visitors enjoyed food and live performances by Hālau Hula ʻO Hokulani, the keiki of Ka Waihona o Ka Naʻauao and the Ahe Mālie trio.
The festival practices the tradition of Makahiki, an ancient Hawaiian harvest festival. Centuries later, the spirit of aloha continues through generations.
Resort properties hosted several cultural activities from Sept. 7 to 13.
This year’s festival theme was Ko Kula Uka, Ko Kula Kai, which means “Those of the Upland, Those of the Shore.” It recognized the foodways and contributions of farmers, fishermen, and home cooks across Hawaii’s inland and coastal communities.
