Collin Gosselin will be writing a memoir. The 21-year-old son of Jon Gosselin and Kate Gosselin shared the news on social media.
“I’ve been given the opportunity to write my very first book,” Collin, 21, wrote on his Instagram Stories on Sept. 6. “Today was a very important part of that process! This morning, I had a wonderful phone call with some pretty great friends of mine, who are a part of this journey.”
“A lot of things were finalized, and drafting will start next week,” he continued, adding, “Details and updates coming soon! I can’t wait to share this with you all.”
There are, of course, a number of different things that Collin could tap into in his first-ever book. For starters, he spent the early years of his life being on reality television. He and his seven siblings rose to fame alongside their parents on TLC’s Jon and Kate Plus 8. Collin could choose to write about the experience of having television cameras and crew in his home.
In 2009, Jon and Kate divorced. At the time, Collin was just 5-years-old. While he may not remember a great deal about his parents’ split due to his young age, we can’t imagine it won’t be mentioned.
However, what Collin is expected to really dive into — the meat and potatoes of his story — is his estrangement from his mom and several of his siblings.
In September 2024, Collin told The Sun that his mom abused him. When he was 12, Collin was sent to a program for children with special needs, moving away from his parents and siblings. After two years at the facility, Jon got Collin out and filed paperwork to have Collin live with him full time.
Over the years, Kate has maintained that she did the best she could with Collin, accusing him of lashing out and other behavioral issues that affected her and Collin’s siblings.
By 2018, Collin and his sister Hannah Gosselin both lived with Jon full-time. Though Hannah has kept in touch with Kate and her other siblings, Collin is said to have no contact with the rest of his family.
“Kate has no contact with him, so there was a whole bunch of stuff that happened with him,” Jon, 42, said on the First Class Fatherhood podcast. “There’s no contact between Collin and his other siblings. There’s contact between Hannah and the other siblings. So the problem right now is we have parent alienation and sibling alienation.”
In recent years, Collin has been more vocal about his childhood and the relationship he’s had with his mother. This will undoubtedly be the crux of Collin’s book.
So far, there hasn’t been a release date or any additional information about the upcoming memoir.
