(ABC 6 News) – Get ready to get Greek, because The Original Rochester Greek Fest returns on Friday, August 22nd, starting at 11 a.m.
Greek Fest has been “livin’ la vida opa” in the Med City since 1963. The annual festival features homemade Greek food, handmade goods, and dancing.
Ari Kolas is a member of the steering committee for Greek Fest. He says there are many things that makes this the Greek community’s biggest party of the year. There’s great music, authentic dancers, tours of their church, but Ari says “it’s really about the food.”
ABC 6 News Good Morning anchors Axel Gumbel and Carly Berglund had the chance to try some delicious Greek pastries live on air. You can watch their reactions in the video player above.
Greek Fest is happening at 703 West Center Street in downtown Rochester. Admission is free and there’s free parking at a nearby lot. Lunch starts at 11 a.m. with a drive-thru option. The event runs through Sunday.
