CEO of Geno Solution Kang Dae-sung Develops a virtual desktop that is essential for smart work environments without the need to purchase expensive equipment

In recent years, establishing a flexible working environment is a hot topic in companies. As telecommuting, remote working, and various mobile work environments become common through the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for an information technology (IT) infrastructure that can perform tasks stably and safely anytime, anywhere is growing.
As a result, virtual desktop infrastructure is a technology that is emerging recently. VDI is a solution that makes a personal computer (PC) environment virtual on a central server and allows users to access and use it anytime, anywhere through the Internet.
“With this technology, you can logically separate the business network and the Internet network from one PC,” said Kang Dae-sung, CEO of Geno Solution, in an interview with Maeil Economy recently. “In other words, you can use two different PCs from one PC.” CEO Kang added, “The use of VDI solutions has the effect of building a smart work environment, increasing IT management efficiency through central management, and strengthening security.”
However, excessively high costs are a major obstacle to the introduction of VDI. Foreign-made solutions that occupy the Korean market require high-performance servers, large-capacity storage, complex network equipment, and virtualization software, so the initial investment cost is enormous. Recently, with the emergence of a subscription-type license service model, users have to continue to pay fees, and the cost burden is increasing due to the input of professional manpower and the operation cost of network infrastructure.
According to Gartner, a global IT market research firm, the total cost of existing VDI solutions is burdensome for SMEs, accounting for more than 30% of the average IT budget, especially for organizations with 500 or fewer employees.
Founded in 2010, Geno Solution is an information and communication technology (ICT) company that provides cloud transformation, security control, and VDI solutions in the financial and public IT markets. Based on its capabilities such as operating a financial security data center, it is leading the establishment of digital infrastructure by financial institutions such as IBK Industrial Bank and Suhyup Bank, and provides stable services with high security levels and 24-hour control.
Recently, it has introduced ‘VDeX’, a virtual desktop management solution that has innovatively reduced the cost burden.

CEO Kang emphasized, “We can drastically eliminate our dependence on existing expensive equipment and software and actively utilize user PC resources, which can significantly reduce initial investment costs, operation and maintenance costs, and improve operational efficiency.”
It is possible to implement an independent virtual desktop using the current PC performance without purchasing a separate expensive server or storage. By utilizing virtualization technology built into Windows and Linux, it provides a secure workspace (virtual desktop) that is completely separated from the real PC environment, so data security and program stability can be secured at the same time.
It also reduces network construction and operation costs by minimizing networks for computer center access. Users access after authentication on a dedicated portal, and if they do not have the authority, it is not possible to change the environment, so it is highly secure.
It also logically separates the business network and the Internet network to fundamentally block potential security threats such as data transfer, screen capture, and network drive connection, and supports various virtualization software to allow flexible interworking with multiple virtualization platforms.
CEO Kang said, “As a strategic partner for public digital innovation, not just a supplier, we will create a safe and efficient future administrative environment with the government.”
