Youngstown State University has announced speakers for three different lectures, all set to take place at Stambaugh Auditorium in the coming weeks.

YOUNGSTOWN Youngstown State University has announced speakers for three different lectures, all set to take place at Stambaugh Auditorium in the coming weeks.
The first lecture, presented by the Thomas Colloquium, will take place Tuesday, September 9 at 6 p.m., and will feature Shark Tank investor and FUBU CEO Daymond John.
John’s presentation is entitled “Building Bold: Risk, Resilience and the Future of Free Enterprise,” and tickets will be available beginning Monday, August 11 on Stambaugh Auditorium’s website and at the DeYor Performing Arts Center Box Office.
John is the CEO and founder of lifestyle brand FUBU. He has also published five books on entrepreneurship including his most recent work “Powershift: Transform Any Situation, Close Any Deal and Achieve Any Outcome.”
He also stars on the hit ABC TV show “Shark Tank” where he demonstrates his marketing prowess and entrepreneurial insight.
The second lecture, presented by the Centofanti Symposium, will take place Thursday, September 25, and feature acclaimed biographer, author and reporter Wil Haygood.
Tickets are not required for this event, but parking in a YSU lot will cost $5 for those without a YSU parking permit.
Haygood has published biographies of entertainer Sammy Davis Jr., Congressman Adam Clayton Powell Jr., Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall and prizefighter Sugar Ray Robinson.
He has also published books such as “Tigerland” and “The Butler,” the latter of which was adapted into a motion picture that became one of the highest-grossing Civil Rights movies of all time.
He also spent 30 years as a national and foreign correspondent for The Washington Post and Boston Globe.
The third lecture is part of the Skeggs Lecture Series, and will take place Wednesday, October 22 and feature award-winning author Amy Tan. A book signing will take place following the lecture.
Tickets will be available beginning Monday, September 8 on Stambaugh Auditorium’s website and at the DeYor Performing Arts Center Box Office.
Tan has published several novels like “The Joy Luck Club,” “The Kitchen God’s Wife,” “The Hundred Secret Senses” and much more. She’s also published multiple memoirs and children’s books.
All three lectures are free and open to the public.
