DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – FinnFest took over the weekend at the Duluth Entertainment Convention Center.
Hundreds gathered for the event, whether they were Finnish or interested in learning more about the culture.
They honored Finnish culture through music, food, and clothing.
This year, FinnFest is also celebrating the 80th anniversary of the Finnish Moomin books through a performance with the iconic characters.
For those close to their community, the event lets them reconnect with one another.
“It means a lot,” said attendee Brittany Kimball. “For me, it a chance to be with people I’ve known for my whole life and reconnect with my roots.”
According to attendees, they don’t just feel the impact of the event, but also those who put it together.
“I’ve been working on this since October,” said FinnFest Music Coordinator Kyle Gray Young. “So, to see all of these people in the same room now and all of the attendees come to celebrate with us, it’s the greatest feeling.“
If you missed the events from Saturday, don’t worry, FinnFest will be continuing all day on Sunday. For more information, click here.
