A big honor for one Ketchikan educator heading to the nation’s capital.
Joe Mainardi, a social studies teacher at Schoenbar Middle School, has been selected to attend C-SPAN’s Summer Educators’ Conference in Washington, D.C.
Mainardi is one of just 30 teachers from across the country chosen for the event, which runs July 28th through the 30th. The conference gives middle and high school educators hands-on training in how to use C-SPAN’s free digital tools—like current events videos, historic clips, and lesson plans—in their classrooms.
Teachers will also learn how to access and share content from C-SPAN’s massive video archive, and hear from key C-SPAN leaders, including CEO Sam Feist.
C-SPAN covers the cost of travel and lodging for attendees. The conference is now in its 20th year and continues to help teachers bring civics to life for their students.
