TUCSON, Ariz. (KVOA) – The Tucson Unified School District is facing a potential loss of $6 million in federal education funds after the federal government decided to withhold funding.
TUSD said this decision impacts several key areas crucial for student support and development. Now, TUSD’s ability to provide essential resources is in jeopardy.
The areas at risk include professional development for educators, specialized support for teachers working with English language learners, fine arts and counseling services, and 21st Century Learning Centers that offer extended learning in after-school and summer programs.
The focus is on maintaining essential student support despite these financial challenges facing TUSD, said officials.
