SJSD Board of Education approves two new administrators
(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The St. Joseph Board of Education approved the appointments of two administrators for the upcoming school year.
Shawna Gilliland will take over the role as principal of Benton High School for the 2025-26 school year.
Gilliland has 24 years of experience in education. She most recently served as Assistant Principal at Central High School for the past two years.
“I’m genuinely looking forward to becoming part of the Benton High School community,” Gilliland said. “My goal is to foster a supportive, inclusive, and collaborative environment where both students and staff can thrive. I value open communication, mutual respect, and shared success – and I am excited for this opportunity.”
Brad Spinner will serve as assistant principal at Central High School in the new school year.
Spinner has 25 years of experience in education. He has spent the last 21 years at Lafayette High School as a math teacher, coach, and most recently serving as the activities director.
“I am really looking forward to joining the admin team at Central. I am thankful and humbled that they see potential in me. I am excited to turn the page and start this chapter of my career,” Spinner said.
Gilliland and Spinner will begin their new roles on July 1.
