According to the findings, users are interested in taking a break from their screens and getting back to nature, with searches for digital detox ideas and digital detox vision boards increasing by 72 percent and 273 percent, respectively.
Also, the “Martha Stewart aesthetic” is gaining in popularity, as people channel her iconic lifestyle, with searches for garden-to-table cooking, flower gardens, and fresh summer recipes on the rise. Here are the major topics, ideas, and inspiration people are searching for this summer on Pinterest.
Rustic Farmhouse
According to the report, home décor trends this summer are leaning toward rustic aesthetics and farmhouse cottage interiors. Gen Z is embracing thrifted home décor, highlighting a preference for unique pieces and the earthy, natural tones and textures secondhand items have. Searches for keywords like “thrifted home” are up 488 percent.
Also popular, the farmhouse cottage trend incorporates natural elements like brick, wood, and vintage finds to create a cozy escape that brings a sense of rural living to every space regardless of location. Searches for “farm cottage aesthetic” are up a whopping 911 percent.
Digital Detox Getaways
Based on the data, users want to ditch their phones and laptops this season in exchange for nature-centric getaways and analog hobbies. For example, nature bathing is becoming popular among Gen Z Pinterest users, with searches for relaxing in nature increasing 32 percent as they opt for serene environments like forests, countrysides, and nature parks.
This trend is also seen among summer travel-related searches, where hiking and mountain vistas frequently appear. Similarly, searches for “book club retreat ideas” jumped 265 percent, indicating a growing interest in simpler pleasures.
Martha Stewart Aesthetic
Unsurprisingly, Pinterest users are seeking more and more inspiration from Martha. Searches for her hallmark activities and interests like garden-to-table cooking, urban farming, and fresh summer recipes are on the rise right now, with the “Martha Stewart aesthetic” growing by a staggering 2,889 percent.
Pinterest also attributes a growing interest in detox drinks to Martha, who loves a glass of green juice. Searches for “best fresh juice recipes” and “green juices for gut health” are up 82 percent and 316 percent, respectively. Other trending searches in the report, such as farmhouse chic and garden parties, also speak to Martha’s lifestyle.

Along with digital detox trends, users are also searching for hands-on activity ideas to do this summer. For example, “cute summer crafts” rose 106 percent, and “book club crafts” are up 558 percent. Searches for “book club invitations” have also grown 173 percent.

According to the report, Gen Z is bringing back the boho aesthetic of the early 2000s by leaning heavily into crochet with pieces like micro shorts and mini dresses. Searches for “boho chic summer outfits” grew by 1,071 percent, “crochet short dresses” by 2,030 percent, and “crochet micro shorts” by 1,393 percent.
Simultaneously, the summer 2015 aesthetic is resurfacing with low-rise shorts, skorts, and lip gloss keychains trending. Also, green appears to be the color of summer, which Pinterest predicted earlier this year in its Pinterest Palette report. Searches for “green 2000s aesthetic” and “green jeans outfit for women” are up 693 percent and 1,627 percent, respectively.

Gen Z searches for astrology makeup are on the rise, with each zodiac sign inspiring beauty looks based on their traits, such as fiery hues for Aries and calming shades for Cancer. Searches for “Aries makeup aesthetic” are up 1,454 percent, while “Virgo makeup” grew 2,006 percent.
Summer Nail Art
Based on the user data, summer nail art will be inspired by tropical fruits, hibiscus blossoms, Italian summers, and Western motifs. And searches for “baby blue cat eye nails” rose 909 percent, reflecting the growing interest in cool-toned beauty.
