Columbia Public Schools has named Christopher Schmitz as the new Shepard Boulevard Elementary School principal for the 2025-2026 school year, according to a news release.
According to the release, Schmitz is currently the principal for Moreau Heights Elementary in Jefferson City. He has 15 years of experience in elementary education and was the principal for Thorpe Gordon Elementary for 10 years.
Schmitz has a specialist degree in educational leadership from Saint Louis University. He also has a bachelor’s degree in elementary education and a minor in health from the University of Central Missouri.
According to the release, Schmitz will replaced Jill Edwards, who will become an elementary instructional mentor for Columbia Public Schools.
