The Art Center presents the 2025 National Printmaking Exhibition

DOVER — The Art Center announced the opening of its 2025 National Printmaking Exhibition, a dynamic showcase of contemporary printmaking from across the United States. The exhibition opened Monday, May 12, and runs through June 30 at The Art Center in Dover, New Hampshire.

This annual exhibition features an exceptional array of prints created by artists from coast to coast. The works on display demonstrate the incredible range and versatility of printmaking, including techniques such as Collagraph, Gyotaku, Intaglio, Lithography, Monoprint, Relief Printing (linoleum & woodcut), Screen Printing, and Serigraphs.

The exhibition features an outstanding roster of participating artists, including Debra Arter, Terri Brooks, Charles Boone, Judith Cassell, Cindi Rose (Puccio) Chagaris, Helen Cantrell, Gail Cunningham, John Dardani, Sara Delaney, Valerie Dillon, Sarah Dolan, Victoria Elbroch, Adelaide Elkin, Patti Fielding, Gayle Fitzpatrick, Jessica Gasc, Chenxi Gao, Meghan Goparaju, Allan Greenier, Seth Hamor, Dusty Herbig, Kate Higley, Christine Higgins, Yuji Hiratsuka, Mark Johnsen, Brian Knoerzer, Melody Knight Leary, Amanda Kralovic, Brian Kreydatus, Brooke Lambert, Amanda Lilleston, Kaela Loftus, Denise Manseau, Liev Manck, Cheri Marks, Nelle Martin, Rachel Mentzer, Nathan Meltz, Marcia Wood Mertinooke, William Mitchell, Kelly Nelson, Mark O’Neil, Elizabeth Schneiders, Meredith Setser, Ron St. Jean, Megan Stover, Pam Traver, Deloris White, Sharon Whitham, Willow Wells, Beth Wittenberg, and Yinghan Zhang.

Seacoast Village Project to host presentation about Shoals Marine Laboratory May 30

PORTSMOUTH — The Seacoast Village Project will host an informational presentation about Shoals Marine Laboratory with Executive Director Dr. Sara Morris on Friday, May 30 from 10:30-11:30 a.m., at the Durham Public Library. The program is free and open to the public; however advance registration is encouraged as space is limited.

The Shoals Marine Laboratory is the only marine laboratory in the United States that is solely devoted to undergraduate education and research. SML is jointly operated by Cornell University and the University of New Hampshire. Through beautiful photos, Dr. Sara Morris will share information about the history of Appledore Island, the Shoals Marine Lab, its educational and research programs, sustainability efforts, their public programs, and opportunities to visit this remote and picturesque island.

Strawbery Banke Museum offers free admission for military through Blue Star Museums

PORTSMOUTH — Strawbery Banke Museum is participating in Blue Star Museums, a program that provides free admission to currently serving U.S. military personnel and their families during the summer. The 2025 program began on Armed Forces Day, Saturday, May 17, and ends on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 1. Learn more and find the list of participating museums at arts.gov/BlueStarMuseums.

As a participating Blue Star Museum, Strawbery Banke Museum offers complimentary general admission for those currently serving in the United States Military—Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, and Space Force, members of the Reserves, National Guard, U.S. Public Health Commissioned Corps, NOAA Commissioned Corps—and up to five family members. Qualified members must show a Geneva Convention common access card (CAC), DD Form 1173 ID card (dependent ID), DD Form 1173-1 ID card or the Next Generation Uniformed Services (Real) ID card for entrance into a participating Blue Star Museum.

International inspiration comes to Exeter with Avery Art Studio Grand Opening

EXETER – Avery Art, a sophisticated fine art studio, is opening its doors in downtown Exeter with an Open Studio event on June 13, 3-8 p.m. and June 14, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Founded by local artist Lauren Avery Hutton, the studio showcases original artworks influenced by nearly two decades of international experience, particularly Lauren’s 18 years living and painting in England.

Seacoast Paddleboard Club champions coastal conservation with charity event

PORTSMOUTH — The Seacoast Paddleboard Club will host the “Seacoast Paddle for Conservation,” on Sunday, Aug. 3. This community-driven initiative is focused on supporting two prominent marine conservation organizations: the Blue Ocean Society for Marine Conservation and the Jetty Rock Foundation.

Two distinct paddling experiences are planned to accommodate all skill levels. Experienced paddlers can challenge themselves with “The Seabrook Run,” a twelve-mile endurance paddle, while beginner to intermediate paddlers can enjoy “The Jenness Run,” a four-mile recreational paddle. Through a thoughtfully designed staggered start time, participants from both routes will converge at Jenness Beach before continuing as a unified group to finish the paddle at Pirate’s Cove Beach.

Registration is now open and participants are encouraged to sign up early to secure their spot in this memorable event. June at the Franklin Gallery

ROCHESTER — The Greater Rochester Camera Club will host its 2024 Summer Show at the Franklin Gallery at Riverstones Custom Framing, 33 North Main St., Rochester. This year’s theme is “people”. The exhibit will hang in the gallery for the entire month of June and an opening reception will be held at Riverstones Custom Framing on Thursday, June 5, from 5:30-7 p.m. Light refreshments will be served and the public is invited to attend. This is a judged exhibit and winners will be announced at the opening reception.

Star Island + Writers In The Round: 2025 performance and fundraiser

Join the Kittery Arts Association on Friday, June 13, from 5-7:30 p.m., at the Kittery Art Association, 2 Walker St., Kittery, Maine, for the annual performance of award-winning songwriters and poets, featuring artists who have facilitated workshops on Star Island in New Hampshire. With compelling lyrics, melodies, verses, and narratives, these artists remind us of the importance of art in building community.
