Onslow County Emergency Medical Services is now a certified continuing education institution. This achievement allows EMS personnel to maintain their required certifications through training offered by highly skilled Onslow County personnel.
Jarrod Plumley, EMS Training Officer, says Onslow County met the rigorous standards required for this designation. “This milestone means that our EMS division can provide accredited continuing education programs, allowing our providers to stay at the forefront of emergency medical care while maintaining their certifications locally. It further strengthens our ability to serve the community with well-trained EMS professionals.”
This certification allows for expanded educational opportunities, enhanced training resources, and continued growth within the department and local partners. Onslow County can also offer continuing education opportunities to area agencies like Camp Lejeune Fire & Emergency Services.
The Onslow County Emergency Medical Services Division conducts training every other month. Relevant certifications are required to be renewed every four years in North Carolina and personnel must complete 120 hours of training to recertify for Paramedics. 100 training hours are required for Advanced Emergency Medical Technician and 80 hours for Emergency Medical Technician. Previously this training was provided by outside continuing education institutions.
