WHATCOM COUNTY, WA (MyBellinghamNow.com) – The theme for this week’s Lifestyle Lookout is “family friendly.” Spots across Whatcom County are hosting events that can be enjoyed by folks of all ages, shapes and sizes.

So, head out on the last weekend of March and spend some quality time with the people you love.

The Pickford Film Center is hosting the Bellingham Children’s Film Festival. It kicks off on Saturday, March 29 with Little Kid Flicks featuring shorts like “Pufferfish,” “Forever Seven,” and “My Name is Edgar and I Have a Cow.” Little Kid Flicks shows on Saturday and Sunday at 10 a.m.

Next up is Bookworm, a film about an 11-year-girl named Mildred whose life is turned upside down when her mom’s illness forces her estranged father, played by Elijah Wood, to fly to New Zealand to look after her. Bookworm shows at 11:45 a.m. on Saturday.

Then on Sunday, the Pickford will show Wallace and Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl. The iconic Claymation duo battle sinister forces to make sure Wallace can keep coming up with his quirky inventions. Wallace and Gromit will be on at 11:45 a.m. on Sunday.

For tickets and all the details, go to pickfordfilmcenter.org.

If you are looking for another family-friendly event this weekend, and an opportunity to honor some veterans, look no further than the Lynden Heritage Museum. Saturday is National Vietnam War Veterans Day at the iconic Lynden Heritage Museum.

It will be an afternoon of free entertainment, refreshments and community appreciation. While you are there, check out Pioneering Partnerships: The Legacy of John Deere and North Washington Implement.

It all starts at 2 p.m. For all the details visit the Lynden Heritage Museum’s website.

How does getting the family together for some cornhole sound? Unity Way Whatcom County is hosting their Cornhole Tournament on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. at the Bellingham Sportsplex.

Show off your cornhole skills, bid on auction items, and compete for prizes all while raising money for a great cause. The proceeds benefit United Way of Whatcom County. It is $50 per team to register. All ages and skill levels are welcome.

Go to unitedwaywhatcom.org to register.

Our featured live show this week is at the Mount Baker Theatre in Bellingham. The Wood Brothers are coming to town on Saturday night and will rock the iconic Bellingham theater with their brand of rootsy Americana.

Opening up for The Wood Brothers is Griffin William Sherry. For tickets go to mountbakertheatre.com.
