RADFORD, Va. (WDBJ) – A Vinton middle school student won the Radford University Scripps Regional Spelling Bee Saturday, March 22.
Rory Grant, a seventh grader at William Byrd Middle School, will advance to the 2025 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
Grant bested 26 competitors from regional public school districts and private schools, winning in 13 rounds. He will compete at Bee Week 2025 near Washington, D.C. May 27-29.
In 2024, Audrey Lee of Andrew Lewis Middle School in Salem, won the Radford Regional Spelling Bee and advanced to the quarterfinals of the 2024 Scripps National Spelling Bee, finishing in the top four.
