PANAMA CITY — New opportunities are set to arrive in Springfield later this month. Goodwill is opening it’s new Big Bend Career Resource Center.
The company will host a grand opening with a ribbon cutting at the new facility on Sept. 19 at 4 p.m. at 3219 East Highway 98 in Panama City.
They say the center will be 13,000 square feet and house a 140-person lecture hall, multiple computer labs and classrooms, employer partner cubicles, and a room dedicated to Goodwill’s Certified Nursing Assistant training program.
“Goodwill is a vital part of the revitalization of Springfield after the devastation left by hurricane Michael,” said Ralph Hammond, mayor of Springfield. “We are pleased to welcome the new center and the services it will provide to more of our citizens.”
A release from Goodwill says the site will offer career exploration, job search assistance, employment workshops and multiple training programs.
“For over 20 years, we have served individuals through education, training, and job placement in the Springfield area,” said Fred Shelfer, CEO of Goodwill. “In recent years, the demand has outpaced our ability to accommodate the number of participants who wish to attend our classes.“
Representatives from Goodwill Big Bend will be present alongside community and board members to celebrate the new facility.
