A fire at the natural well gas site near the Continuing Education and Workforce Development building was announced all clear around 5:40 p.m., via MavAlert.
An urgent MavAlert announced the fire around 4:30 p.m., notifying everyone to evacuate the facility.
Nearly 20 minutes later, another MavAlert announced the fire was under control, but advised people to remain out of the surrounding area.

As criminal justice senior Grace Alexander was leaving the Office of Financial Aid, she saw the commotion and firefighters working to contain the fire.
“I see, behind that gate, a big blaze. Not too big, but big, and about eight firetrucks that then pulled, all up in here blocking the traffic,” Alexander said.
