Much like a pendulum that moves back and forth with consistency and balance, this approach encourages individuals to integrate both effort and ease into their daily routines.

“Gen Z often feels pressured to invest extra time in learning, chasing new achievements, and proving their success. However, continuous hustle without adequate breaks is unsustainable. Rest is just as important as work,” said Bhandekar.
According to Bhandekar, taking meaningful breaks, engaging in activities beyond work, and nurturing personal fulfillment are highly recommended. Making time for self-care, exercise, hobbies, and quality moments with loved ones can significantly contribute to emotional wellbeing and overall life satisfaction.

“The pendulum lifestyle helps prevent physical and mental health issues associated with overwork, such as burnout, chronic anxiety and stress. By incorporating both intense productivity and intentional relaxation, Gen Z can build sustainable habits that support their well-being for years to come,” she said.
By adopting a pendulum lifestyle, Gen Z can mindfully embrace the rhythm of work and rest, leading to sustainable progress without compromising their health. “Sometimes, individuals find it difficult to come out of the rut of excessive focus on work, and may not know where to start.
