LA CROSSE (WKBT) — The School District of La Crosse hosted an informational session for people interested in serving on the board of education.
The upcoming April election will fill 3 seats on the board, each serving a 3-year term.
The board helps shape the future of the schools by evaluating performance of staff, setting budgets, and setting academic standards across the district.
The district says serving on the board of education is a chance to make a lasting impact on the lives of La Crosse students.
“It’s a great opportunity for me to serve my community and to further support my daughter who is currently going to school in the district,” said prospective school board member Sam Morris.
To appear on the ballot candidates must file the necessary forms with the district clerk by January 7.
