(ST. JOSEPH, Mo.) The MidCity Excellence Gospel Heritage Festival returned for its 7th year at the East Hills Shopping Center, bringing the theme of “Heart & Soul” to attendees.
The Gospel Heritage Festival celebrates the diverse cultures of St. Joseph, including Hispanic, Black, Scottish, and many others.
MidCity Excellence aims to give these communities a platform to shine.
The event featured performances such as Mexican folk dancing, percussion, bagpipes, and African dances that captivated onlookers.
Erica Green, the Market Coordinator for MidCity Excellence, shared what the event means to her and the community.
“I think it’s awesome. I’m not a St. Joseph native, so I didn’t realize how many different cultures exist here. It’s wonderful to see things you don’t encounter every day, like a bagpipe performance, which I don’t think I’ve ever seen before. It’s really nice to meet new people and experience something outside of my daily routine.”
