Following the overwhelming success of last year’s inaugural event, the Oak Ridge Chamber of Commerce chose to expand the career fair in both size and scope, with Kairos Power serving as this year’s Presenting Sponsor.
The Nuclear Science Week Career Fair connects nuclear companies, higher education institutions, technical training providers, and job seekers in one collaborative environment. As workforce needs in the nuclear sector continue to grow, this event supports the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to strengthening the regional talent pipeline and building connections that are vital to Oak Ridge’s future.
New for 2025, participants can look forward to:
- Larger venue: Relocated to the Coffey/McNally Building for increased exhibitor capacity and improved layout.
- Breakout sessions: Interactive career development activities including mock interviews, résumé workshops, one-on-one mentoring, panel discussions, and guided tours of the nuclear science lab with Roane State Nuclear Technology Program Director Dr. Joe Stainback in the Goff Building.
- Digital job access: On-site tablets providing easy access to open positions through company QR codes linking directly to hiring portals.
- Enhanced networking tools: Color-coded wristbands identifying job seekers, students, and general attendees to better tailor recruitment conversations.
- Improved event support: Clear signage, wayfinding, and volunteer assistance throughout the fair.
For job seekers, this is an opportunity to meet face-to-face with hiring managers, human resources professionals, and industry experts. Attendees are encouraged to bring updated résumés, portfolios, and questions to maximize their experience. In addition to open job postings and on-site interviews, career fair participants will have access to skill-building workshops and hands-on learning through lab tours. There is no cost to attend.
For employers, the career fair provides direct access to skilled talent, students, and professionals interested in career pathways in nuclear energy, science, and technology. Exhibitors will have the opportunity to showcase their organizations while engaging with future workforce candidates in an interactive and highly visible setting.
The career fair is presented as part of Nuclear Science Week, a national celebration hosted by the American Museum of Science and Energy (AMSE) this year. The weeklong observance in Oak Ridge will include a variety of educational opportunities, bus tours, a history-focused day, special ETEC program at ORAU, and a next-level Atomic Expo at AMSE to close out the week.
“The Chamber is proud to help connect local talent with opportunities in one of our region’s most vital industries,” said BreAnna Robinson, Events & Programs Director. “With the demand for skilled professionals in nuclear science and energy continuing to grow, events like this play an essential role in building the future workforce of Oak Ridge.”
