WILLIAMSVILLE, Ill. (WAND) — On Friday, the Williamsville-Sherman CUSD #15 Facebook page, the Superintendent shared a heartfelt message regarding the death of one of his students.
Tip Reedy, Superintendent of the district, said 7th-grade student Alex Doom died suddenly recently.
Reedy said the death has filled him with profound sadness. The district sends its thoughts and prayers to the Bjkork and Doom families, as well as all who knew and loved Alex.
“The sudden loss of a student has a devastating impact on everyone in the school district and throughout the community. Students can have a particularly hard time coping with such a tragic loss, and we urge you to discuss the situation with them,” said Reedy, adding that WJHS will have grief counselors and guidance counselors available for students and staff.
Reedy added in his post that Amanda Mandeville, the WJHS Guidance Counselor; Clay Shoufler, the WJHS Principal; or Megan Doerfler, the WJHS Assistant Principal, can help parents set up counseling appointments for their children.
Reedy reminds students and parents, “Our caring teachers and staff have also been briefed on this situation, and we will try to maintain a normal routine for our students under these difficult circumstances. “
