The University of Michigan-Flint College of Arts, Sciences & Education and the Office of Student Career Advancement and Success will host a career fair from 1-4 p.m. on Feb. 24 at the Riverfront Conference Center, 1 Riverfront Plaza, in Flint. An optional employer panel will begin at 12:15 p.m.

The event will connect students with more than 60 regional employers, including Genesee County, Bavarian Inn Lodge, Hurley Medical Center, the state of Michigan, and Genesee Intermediate School District.

“For CASE majors, engaging with employers early and often is essential,” said Kimberly Marsh, CASE career service manager. “The career fair provides students with a valuable opportunity to connect directly with employers, practice professional communication, networking, interview skills, and explore how their academic experiences translate into meaningful career pathways. By engaging with employers, students gain insight into workforce expectations, build confidence and begin forming professional relationships that support both immediate opportunities and long-term career growth.”

The employer panel at 12:15 p.m. will cover recruiting trends, professional branding, hiring practices, and navigating the career fair and interview process. Panelists will also discuss future job and internship opportunities.

Antonio Riggs, associate director of the Office of Student Career Advancement and Success at UM-Flint, emphasized the importance of career preparation in higher education.

“Career coaching and guidance are essential parts of the academic journey that help students achieve their long-term goals,” Riggs said. “Students come to the university not only to earn a degree, but to prepare for meaningful careers aligned with their aspirations. Career Services supports this process by helping students explore opportunities that match their interests, develop strong resumes and portfolios, and build confidence in their professional skills. We also connect students with community partners through panel discussions, information sessions, company tours, mock interviews, and job shadowing experiences. Through these connections, students expand their networks and gain valuable experiential learning that links their education to real-world career pathways.”

Participating employers expressed enthusiasm about connecting with UM-Flint students.

“Our group is excited to attend the upcoming career fair at UM-Flint and show the students the amazing opportunities they can tap into in our community,” said Brianna Mosier, executive director of Flint & Genesee Education & Talent. “From business training workshops to our Flinterns community exposure program or even getting connected with Make Your Move — our region’s talent attraction program — there are plenty of ways to get involved in the community and find your future here.”

Hurley Medical Center is seeking students in nursing, health sciences and other health care fields.
“As a leading regional medical center, we are always eager to connect with the university’s diverse and talented student body, particularly those in nursing, health sciences and other vital ancillary fields,” said Summer Jenkins of the Hurley Medical Center human resources department. “This event provides a fantastic opportunity to meet future employees and interns who are passionate about health care and committed to serving our community.”

Students should register at go.umflint.edu/careerfair2026 to research participating companies and receive preparation information. Employers may register by Feb. 20 at the same link, or contact Riggs at anriggs@umich.edu or Marsh at mkimbe@umich.edu for assistance.
