HUNTSVILLE | The No. 4 UAH men’s basketball team tied the school record on Saturday evening with their 20th consecutive victory as they defeated Trevecca Nazarene 98-86 at Kelly Court in Spragins Hall. The Chargers improved to 20-1 (15-0 GSC) in the win, while the Trojans dropped to 15-6 (10-5 GSC).
The win marked the 100th career victory for first-year head coach Mick Hedgepeth.
Blake Campbell scored 31 points to top his UAH career high of 30 as the graduate transfer has scored 30 or more points in two of his last three outings. Additionally, Campbell had five rebounds.
Matt Thurman scored a career-high 21 points in the win as the Franklin, Tennessee, native went 8-for-10 from the field with a 2-for-3 performance from three.
Tommy Murr scored 22 points in the win and has scored double-digit points in 28 consecutive contests dating back to last season. The senior was 7-for-17 from the field and 6-for-7 from the free throw line. He added five assists and three rebounds in the victory.
Daniel Saylor recorded five blocks to push his season total to 54 blocks. The Pleasant View, Tennessee, native now has 134 career blocks to bring him to just one block away from being tied for third in UAH history.
The Chargers held a large advantage in bench points on Saturday evening as the UAH reserves added 25 points in comparison to just 10 from the TNU bench.
