U.S. News and World Report recently released the 2025 rankings for elementary and middle schools across the country, listing each school in comparison to other schools in the state.
U.S. News assesses schools on their shares of students who were proficient or above proficient in their mathematics and reading or language arts state assessments, focusing on both test scores and the context of socioeconomic demographics.
Elementary schools
In Henry County, Eastern Elementary School in Pleasureville took the highest elementary school ranking at #243 of all Kentucky schools with a percentile score of 63.66%.
According to U.S. News, 52% of Eastern Elementary Schools’s 174 students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 47% scored at or above that level for reading.
Further, Eastern enrolls 53% economically disadvantaged students, according to U.S. News.
With 12 equivalent full-time teachers and one full-time school counselor, Eastern Elementary School has a student-teacher ratio of 14:1, which is better than that of the district, U.S. News says.
Campbellsburg Elementary, New Castle Elementary and Eminence Independent Elementary were all ranked #500-667 — U.S. News consolidates the schools that rank below the 25th percentile.
U.S. News reports the following statistics for those schools:
At Campbellsburg Elementary, 32% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 32% scored at or above that level for reading. With 344 students, 21 equivalent full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor, the school has a 16:1 student-teacher ratio.
At New Castle Elementary School, 22% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 37% scored at or above that level for reading. With 334 students, 22 equivalent full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor, the school has a 15:1 student-teacher ratio.
At Eminence Elementary School, 32% of students scored at or above the proficient level for math, and 35% scored at or above that level for reading. With 456 students, 30 equivalent full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor, the school’s student-teacher ratio is 15:1.
Middle and high schools
Henry County Middle School came in at #226 of all Kentucky middle schools, with 34% of students scoring at or above the proficient level for math, and 36% scoring at or above that level for reading.
With 419 students, 29 equivalent full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor, the school’s student-teacher ratio is 14:1. Henry County Middle also enrolls 49% economically disadvantaged students, according to U.S. News.
Eminence Middle and High School serves grades six through 12, with a total student population of 535. With 40 equivalent full-time teachers and 1 full-time school counselor, the school’s student-teacher ratio is 13:1.
U.S. News ranked Eminence Middle at #203 of all Kentucky middle schools, with 30% of students scoring at or above the proficient level for math, and 45% scoring at or above that level for reading.
Eminence High earned the #103 ranking for the state and #24 in Louisville Metro area high schools, with 41% of the 298 students scoring at or above the proficient level for math, and 60% scoring at or above that level for reading. Eminence High also has an 89% graduation rate.
Eminence High also has a total minority enrollment of 24%, and 98% of its students are economically disadvantaged, U.S. News says.
Henry County High School came in at #197-225 and #40-56 in Louisville Metro area high schools, with 29% of the 612 students scoring at or above the proficient level for math, and 36% scoring at or above that level for reading. The school also has an 88% graduation rate.
Henry County High also has a total minority enrollment of 11%, and 49% of its students are economically disadvantaged.
