POINT PLEASANT — In order to commemorate all of the teams and individual athletes at Point Pleasant Boro High School who earned Fall Athletic Awards, the board needed to split the recognition into two meetings, one in November and one in December.
At the meeting on Monday, Dec. 16, the Board of Education presented 51 students with Fall Athletic Awards, bringing the total number of students commemorated to 102, with the other 51 students having been honored at the Nov. 17 meeting.
Students were divided into teams and honored for the teams they were named to and the individual titles they achieved.
Members of the cheerleading team, coached by Coach Emily Bergmann, who were awarded the title of MVP were Irelyn Glavin, Catherine Halm, Jessica Jordan and Bridget Lukacs.
On the boys soccer team, coached by Coach Peter Casalino, Dean Cardia was named to 3rd team All Ocean County and 2nd team All A-South; Joseph Doles was named to 2nd team All Ocean County and 1st team All A-South; Logan Forte was named to 2nd team All Ocean County and 1st team All A-South; and Jake Greene was named to 1st team All Ocean County and 1st team All A-South.
On the girls soccer team, coached by Coach Michael Edolo, Khloey Cilento, Maddie Renna and Elise Viggiano were named to 2nd team All Shore, 1st team All Ocean County and All A-South; Abby Crowell was named to 3rd team All Ocean County and All A-South; Lily Scalabrini was named to 2nd team All Ocean County and All A-South; and Megan Viggiano was named to 3rd team All Ocean County.
On the football team, coached by Coach Brian Staub, Dean Albanese, Trevor Evans and Calvin Videon-Perino were named to 1st team All Division. Lincoln Blasi, Luca Cangiano, Nico Cangiano, Aidan Dombrowsky, Mason Morris, Lorenzo Natoli, Landon Neris, Travis Scully and Nick Spanola were named to 2nd team All Division. Jake Clayton and George Walsh were named to 1st team All Division and 2nd team All-Shore. Logan Cooley and Jack Scalabrini were named to 1st team All Division and 3rd team All-Shore.
The girls field hockey team, coached by Coach Kelly Carr, was recognized for winning the A South Division Champions, Shore Conference Tournament Champions and South Jersey Group 2 Sectional Champions. The team members were Natalie Anderson, Codi Damerau, Emma Forsythe, Kate Forsythe, Haley Fox, Sophia Gahagan, Lindsay Jordan, Ella Knapp, Elisabeth Miele, Emily Paolella, Claire Pausz, Jaiden Petrosky, Aubree Piemonte, Sophia Prendeville, Kylie Repasky, Eliza Schofield, Eliza Toth, Lydia Videon-Perino, Josephine Walsh and Brigid Welch.
Finally, multiple students on the girls field hockey team were given individual honors. A South All Division, A Division Senior All Star, 1st team NFHCA (National Field Hockey Coaches Association) All-Region, 1st team All Shore, 1st team All Group 2, 2nd team All State and MVP, Codi Damerau; A South All Division, A Division Senior All Star, 1st team NFHCA All-Region, 1st team All Shore, 1st team All Group 2, 2nd team All State and MVP, Haley Fox; A South All Division, A Division Senior All Star, 1st team All Shore, 2nd team All Group 2 and MVP, Sophia Gahagan; A South All Division and 1st team All Shore, Lindsay Jordan; A South All Division, A Division Senior All Star and 2nd team All Shore, Emily Paolella; A South All Division, A Division Senior All Star, 2nd team NFHCA All-Region, 1st team All Shore, 1st team All Group 2, 1st team All State, Shore Conference Player of the Year and MVP, Claire Pausz; 2nd team All Shore, Kylie Repasky; and A South All Division, Josephine Walsh.
