SHREVEPORT, La. – The Shreveport Police Department hosted kids and teenagers at the second annual Next Gen Career Fest on Wednesday.
The event offers a hands-on experience that highlight various career paths in law enforcement. Through interactive activities, participants gained knowledge, skills, and responsibilities involved in policing.
“We’re going to teach them how to do the Heimlich maneuver today,” said Lt. Diana Sanchez. “They’ll also get some water safety information from our lake patrol. And, the last thing they’ll do is talk a little bit of recruiting, but we hope that we’re inspiring them to be the next generation of police officers.”
The goal of Next Gen Career Fest is to ignite long-term interest in public safety careers while building positive, lasting relationships between police and the community.
