Ceremony celebrating completion of Roosevelt High’s field
Boyle Heights—Rocio Rivas, LAUSD Board of Education District 2 representative, Superintendent Alberto M. Carvalho, and other district officials are inviting Roosevelt High School families and neighboring residents to a ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the completion of the school’s new football field. The ceremony will take place at 6:15 p.m. Friday at Roosevelt High. Members of the school community and area residents can attend the event or watch via Zoom. For more info, click here.
Belmont High alumni to gather for All-Year Class Picnic
Westlake—The Belmont High School Alumni Association will have an All-Year Class Picnic Saturday (Oct. 11) in the area known as the Flats on the school grounds. The event will have a Dodger theme. Alumni, students, families, and friends are invited to wear Dodger and/or Belmont Sentinel gear. For more info, click here.
Wanted: California’s first Teen Poet Laureate
The search is on for California’s first Teen Poet Laureate, a two-year position established under California state law. The successful applicant will advocate for poetry in California and will represent the state and the California Arts Council at events for two years and will receive an annual stipend of $10,000. To be eligible, applicants must be ages 13 to 19 on the application deadline date of November 30 and live in California on that date and throughout the two-year appointment.
