Rockingham Choral Society to perform Bruckner’s ‘Requiem‘
EXETER — The Rockingham Choral will perform their spring concert “Requiem” on Saturday, May 3 and Sunday, May 4 at Christ Church, 43 Pine St., Exeter. Both performances will take place at 3 p.m.
The concert will also feature the modern premiere of a new arrangement of the Missa Adolorata by Antonio Caldara. Assembled and arranged by Rockingham Choral Society member Sebastian Tsai over a number of years using portions gathered from all over the globe, this will be the first time the work has been heard since 1717.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and students. Advance purchase is available and encouraged at www.rockinghamchoral.org. Day-of tickets are subject to availability.
Kittery Art Association to hold Garage Dance fundraiser
KITTERY, Maine — Ben Baldwin And The Big Note perform in a rare local performance at the Kittery Lion’s Club, 117 State Road, Kittery, Maine on Saturday, May 3, from 7-9:30 p.m., for a night of dancing while supporting the arts at The Kittery Art Association Garage Dance Revival.
The Big note has been rocking the Seacoast since 1976, with music that spans the full range of American popular styles. From Count Basie to Rufus Thomas to Gene Pitney to Marvin Gaye to The Band to The Kinks – and beyond.

Mike Rogers Trio performs at Haley Art Gallery
KITTERY, Maine — Haley Art Gallery will host Outside, Lookin’ In performance by Mike Rogers Trio, on Friday, April 25, from 6-7:30 p.m. Blind songwriter, guitarist, and poet Mike Rogers will be joined by his wife Beverly for vocal harmony, and Dan MacLellan on bass and vocal back-up. Benefit concert for Seacoast Mental Health
PORTSMOUTH — Drs. Tom and Lisa Sherman are hosting a Benefit Concert for Seacoast Mental Health Center on Thursday, May 22, at 6 p.m., at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Portsmouth.
Local Pianist and Composer, Lucas Nering, will be performing piano sonatas 13 and 14 as well as covers of familiar favorite tunes. Guests are invited to a light reception following the show.

Violist Hana Jang takes top prize in Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra’s 2025 Young Artist Competition
PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth Symphony Orchestra recently awarded violist Hana Jang first prize in its annual Young Artist Competition. Jang will perform her winning solo concerto, “Andante Comodo,” the first movement of William Walton’s Viola Concerto in A Minor, at the final mainstage performance of the season on June 1, at 3 p.m. at The Music Hall in Portsmouth.
Pianist Evan Fan, and cellist Ian Jang were awarded a honorable mentions. Violinist Samuel Geho and flutist Advika Govindaraju were also finalists in this year’s competition.
Sixteen-year-old competition winner Hana Jang began her musical studies in Geneva, Switzerland before continuing at the National University of Singapore YST Conservatory. She currently studies with Mai Motobuchi at the New England Conservatory and Roger Ellsworth at St. Paul’s School.
She previously led the New Hampshire All-State Orchestra, Singapore National Youth Orchestra, and AMIS International School Honors Orchestra. Jang has performed throughout the United States, France, Switzerland, Portugal, and Singapore. She co-founded the JANG Trio, performing regular community outreach concerts, and has participated in prestigious festivals including Greenmountain, Encore, MusicAlp, Les Arcs, and Verao Classico.
Beyond music, she excels academically as a member of the Classics Honor Society and received Magna Cum Laude in the National Latin Exam. Fluent in English, French, Korean, and Spanish, with proficiency in Chinese, German, Italian, Latin, and Greek, Jang is dedicated to exploring connections between music, international relations, and cultural diplomacy.
