Portsmouth is hosting Youth Career ConnectFest to link teens with job opportunities.
PORTSMOUTH, Va. — A youth employment event is kicking off in Portsmouth on Thursday!
Youth Career ConnectFest will be held at the Virtual Learning Center located at 2880 Airline Boulevard from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.
This event will connect youth between the ages of 15½ to 21 with internships, apprenticeships, entrepreneurship programs and educational opportunities.
There will be 25 employers and organizations offering different career pathways and immediate employment opportunities.
“This event is designed to empower our youth by providing them with tangible opportunities to explore and pursue meaningful career paths,” said Sonja Briggs, a representative from Portsmouth@Work.
“By bringing together employers, educational institutions, and community resources under one roof, we aim to foster a supportive environment that encourages positive and productive futures for our young residents.”
Portsmouth@Work partnered with Big H.O.M.I.E.S. to host this event. On Wednesday, starting at 10 a.m., they are also hosting a resume workshop to prepare for the job fair.
If you need transportation to the event, call Eugene Swinson at 804-399-0579 for transportation assistance.
The event is free. To register, visit the Portsmouth Work website.
