The Polynesian Festival brings together different cultures to be celebrated right here in Onslow County.
The celebration at Onslow Pines Park was from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday. Combining food, local vendors and live entertainment to celebrate the culture in places like Hawaii, New Zealand, and Samoa. The festival featured many elements of the Polynesian culture, but especially, dancing.
Maria Fretwell performed at the event, and she says that she hopes she can watch the festival continue to grow, every year.
Polynesian culture we are all about sharing our Aloha, our passion. We are very nice peopleMeans connected or bound through dance. Meaning you don’t have to be Polynesian to dance as long as you respect and care for the culture and treat it as the way you should. Anyone can dance.
Fretwell encourages you to explore more into Polynesian culture, especially dance.
