DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now/Valley News Live) -The man police say shot and killed four people and then turned the gun on himself last week had a history of mental health issues, according to a report filed by the Duluth Police Department this summer.
According to a police report filed on July 3, police responded to a call involving Anthony Nephew. He told the responding officer that he held a knife to someone’s throat, although the report also says no weapon was found. The name of the person he said he threatened was redacted from the report.
Nephew also indicated to the officer that he had been diagnosed with schizophrenia in the past five years and had recently changed his medications. He also told police about how the Russians had control of his mind since he was a young boy.
The report continued that Nephew asked the responding officer to, “come back after midnight if Trump does take over and put a bullet in his head and his families.”
The report also indicates that Nephew had made suicidal threats a year and a half earlier.
On Nov. 7, Anthony Nephew murdered his two sons and their mothers in two separate Duluth homes.
