PLANO, Ky. – Warren County Public Schools is continuing to celebrate the diversity of the student body in Warren County as one local elementary school hosted a culture fair for their students.
Plano Elementary School held a culture fair for its students this morning, showcasing the different cultural identities of their fellow students. High school students performed cultural dances and showcased different cultural dress as well through a fashion show. After the fair, some students held presentations in the gym talking a little more in depth about each culture.
One staff member says that introducing kids to new cultures and perspectives is important, especially as our international community continues to grow.
“If we have a student that was born in Bowling Green in Plano and they stay here for their entire career, they’re going to be around that international population. So in order for them to be the best citizens they can be the best workers that they need to have an awareness of the other cultures that are represented here in our community. And it’s just a fun way for some students to get the spotlight shown on them who don’t. Maybe, maybe not, don’t have a chance to talk about their cultures. But today we got to put that in the spotlight and celebrate it,” said Plano principal Ben Frasier.
This is the second year Plano Elementary has held its culture fair showcasing the different cultures of the school to its students, and Frasier credits the teachers for their hard work in helping this fair come together.
