The Norfolk Public Schools Board of Education voted to approve on second reading to name Interim Superintendent Bill McAllistar to be the Boards Secretary. Associate Superintendent of Business, Maintenance and Facilities Eric Wilson briefed the board prior to the vote.
“It is customary for the district’s superintendent to serve as the board’s secretary,” Wilson said. “Therefore I recommend appointing Bill McAllister as the 2025 board’s secretary with his term beginning on July 1st, 2025 and continue through the remainder of the year.
The board voted 6-0 on Monday to approve the appointment on the second of three readings. McAllister will begin his duties as the District’s Superintendent on July 1st. He replaces Dr. Jami Jo Thompson who, earlier this year accepted a job as the Superintendent of the Rapid City school district in South Dakota.
