DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) – Career Force in Duluth held its monthly job fair Wednesday and is encouraging everyone seeking a new job or career to stop by and utilize their services.
Elena Foshay is the director of workforce development for Career Force in Duluth. She encourages everyone looking for a job to use their services no matter where they’re coming from.
“This is open to the public,” Foshay said. “Doesn’t matter if you live in Minnesota or Wisconsin as long as you’re looking for a job we’re here to help.”

“Maybe they’re a young person who is just graduating from high school and not sure where to go next, or an older worker who is trying to stay involved in the labor force,” Foshay said.
She said that in past career fairs, people have been hired the same day.
“Some employers allow you to apply on the spot, they’ll interview right here in one of these interview rooms and we’ve even seen some job offers,” Foshay said.
They also have programs available for more in-depth counseling and job training support.
“Some folks come in and use our computer lab to look for jobs and apply for jobs, and we have staff who are always there to help,” Foshay said. “We have one one-on-one appointments if you just want to sit down with someone for half an hour, hour, to point you in the right direction for your job search.”
In total, ten local employers were looking for future employees Wednesday. Brent Harju was there on behalf of Iron Workers local 512 looking for new ironworkers.
“We are really looking for our next generation of ironworkers so looking for ironworker apprentices to fill the call,” Harju said.
He said the work can be hard, but it’s worth it.
“We are looking for good people, its a great career, it really is. It’s a lot of hard work but it’s a real rewarding career,” Harju said.
If you don’t want to wait for the next career fair, their career lab is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
