COLBERT COUNTY, Ala. (WAFF) – Melcha Satchel resigned as the principal of Colbert County High School on Thursday, according to school officials.
According to the Colbert County School officials, there was a board meeting on Thursday morning, stating the ongoing issue with Satchel has been resolved.
Colbert County School Superintendent Nathan Fuller said he thinks everyone was looking for peace and believe now they have it.
Fuller said everyone can move forward. Following that, Satchel resigned from his position.
Satchel reportedly agreed to meet with Fuller a few times beforehand and they had a few conversations.
Following those conversations, both parties were able to resolve the issue in a way that is reported to be beneficial to all.
Officials said there will be no change to any of their administrators, as the interim principal will be the same at Colbert County Schools.
Fuller also said he has an obligation to the students, but also all of the staff, including Satchel, and aimed to resolve the situation as fast as possible for everyone.
Earlier, a State appeals court recently sided with Satchel over an appeal to get his job back.
He was let go following an issue at the Colbert County High School prom. He reportedly failed to tell district leaders after a student brought alcohol to that event.
The circuit court found that the school board failed to provide Satchel with proper notice of his firing, which violated policy.
Lee Craft will remain the acting principal until further notice.
Members in the board unanimously voted to release Satchel from his contract.
