Meet Don Krishnaswami, the founder of Live Arts String Quartet, which is performing free concert at the Franklin Historical Museum, Sunday from 3-5 pm.
Krishnaswammi has built a reputation in the Boston music world as both a commanding violist and an inspiring educator. Known for his rich tone and expressive precision, he appears frequently with top regional ensembles and has collaborated with players from the Boston Symphony Orchestra. His versatility is one of his hallmarks: Krishnaswami moves with ease from classical repertoire to contemporary works, and he has premiered several compositions, including his own.
A longtime advocate for chamber music, he played a central role in shaping the LiveARTS concert series in Franklin, serving eight years on its board and has since gathered musicians and supporters to help launch the LiveARTS String Quartet. His work reflects a belief that world-class performance should be accessible close to home, without the barriers of distance or high cost.
Beyond the stage, Krishnaswami is a dedicated teacher whose students praise his clarity, patience, and insistence on musical honesty.
