Kelly Clarkson had such a holly jolly time hosting the Rockefeller Christmas Tree lighting in 2023 that she’s back for another year of merry and bright shenanigans.
On Monday, November 4, the 42-year-old singer and TV personality announced that she’ll be back underneath the tree to host Christmas In Rockefeller Center LIVE on Wednesday, December 4 at 8 p.m. ET on NBC, with streaming available on Peacock.
“Let’s talk about this incredible time of year—the city is so magical,” she told the audience on an episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show. “I love the holidays in New York. Living here during Christmas is like you’re in a movie. There’s nothing like it in the world—especially the tree lighting ceremony, which is an iconic tradition right outside this building. I got to host it last year and I thought, ‘Oh, this will be fun’—I host things sometimes—so I was like, ‘Oh, this’ll be cool.’ And the tree lit up and you would have thought, like, I don’t know… I balled… it’s so beautiful when you’re standing there… I was all of a sudden in a Charlie Brown movie and it was magical.”
As evident by the cheers in the crowd and comments on Instagram, fans agree that there’s nothing like Christmas in New York, especially when Kelly’s part of the celebrations.
“This makes me so happy! Kelly, you embody Christmas & bring so much joy to others by being authentically you,” one fan exclaimed. “I was there in the ice rink when you balled looking at the Christmas tree. I can’t wait to watch you again from the crowd, Kelly,” another fan shared. “Kelly, I’m literally crying with joy right now. I was hoping so much that you’d be back. This time I can see it live and I’m so happy that you’re here too! A dream comes true,” someone else commented. “Kelly Clarkson IS CHRISTMAS,” another fan remarked.
