KALAMAZOO, MI — Kalamazoo County’s Catholic schools will have a new structure beginning in March.
The county’s four Catholic schools will be managed under one school system, the “Catholic Schools of Greater Kalamazoo,” (CSGK) sponsored by the Catholic Diocese of Kalamazoo, a press release from the diocese said.
Previously the schools were managed by the parishes the schools were associated with. The change will go into effect on March 1.
There are four Catholic schools in Kalamazoo County: Light of Christ Academy in Augusta, St. Augustine Cathedral School in Kalamazoo, St. Monica School in Kalamazoo and Hackett Catholic Prep in Kalamazoo.

Each school will retain their location and branding. Parents, faculty and staff won’t see a significant difference in classrooms, the release said.
The restructuring “provides a common vision, strengthens the system’s financial foundation and positions us to grow enrollment,” said Edward Lohse, bishop of the Diocese of Kalamazoo.
The school system’s daily operations will be led by a president. Each school’s principal will report to that president, who has yet to be selected.
The president will report to a CSGK Board of Directors chaired by the diocesan bishop.
