A New Hampshire elementary school will be closed on Monday for inspection as there are hundreds of bats inside the building, school officials said.
The Newport School District superintendent Donna Magoon told News 9 Saturday that there ware hundreds of bats that are suppose to be hibernating in the Richards Elementary School.
She was originally told there were thousands but it’s hundreds. On Thursday, a bat was seen flying inside the school.
A staff member had to duck multiple times from a bat swooping in on them, according to Magoon.

A pest and wildlife service will do a full inspection of the school. The reason for the school being closed is that tiles need to be removed and see if and how the bats can be removed, according to Magoon.
All other schools will be open.
Magoon said they are taking the matter seriously and no students or staff will be allowed back in until she’s made aware from inspectors that it’s safe.
