Sunday, March 1 marks Valparaiso International Students Association’s (VISA) 46th annual World Banquet. The event, held in the Harre Union Ballrooms from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., is themed “enchanted forest” this year, and will include a variety of performances and cultural activities to celebrate international differences.
“We invited different performers from different countries to sing songs, dance and [play] instruments to show their own culture,” said VISA Public Relations Chair Ian Liu.
While anyone is invited, both from the university and outside, tickets must be purchased online via scanning the poster QR code or by visiting the Harre Union Welcome Desk during business hours.
“Anyone is invited from any portion of the university as long as they get tickets. People from off campus [are also invited to attend], and we [posted] some flyers downtown,” Liu said.
With dinner including dishes from the Middle East, Japan, South America and more, there are plenty of foods and experiences attendees can get from the banquet.
“The cultural diversity [is important to acknowledge], and we have a lot of international people or people from different different countries, and they show their cultures. [Students who are] curious about what differences are between cultures [should attend],” Liu said.
