High school juniors and seniors can apply for an Ohio Department of Natural Resources job shadow program.
Students who are selected will learn from ODNR professionals on May 2, which is a Friday.
Applications to shadow ODNR employees will be accepted through March 31 on the ODNR Job Shadow webpage, according to a news release.
“Students will be able to explore career opportunities in wildlife, parks, forestry and so much more,” the release noted. “The job shadow program sheds light on a variety of career paths of which many people might not be aware.”
High school juniors and seniors can apply to shadow Ohio Department of Natural Resources professionals on May 2, which is a Friday.
Students in the program will gain an understanding of ODNR job requirements and daily tasks. Those who apply will be able to choose the division or office they would like to learn about, including law enforcement, engineering, forestry and more.
The ODNR is planning a second job shadow day for the fall of 2025, which is yet to be determined.

“We want to inspire future conservationists to continue the vital work we do every day at the Ohio Department of Natural Resources,” ODNR Director Mary Mertz said. “It is of the utmost importance that we provide insight to the careers that are here at ODNR, whether it’s related to the protection of wildlife and plant habitats, to the conservation of our forests, and beyond, we need to inspire the next generation.”
