Manchester board approves several items during special meeting
NEW FRANKLIN — The Manchester Local Schools Board of Education approved several personnel items during a special meeting June 30. The board approved hiring Stephanie Durieux, a 2017 Manchester High School graduate, as a sixth grade teacher.
One-year contracts were also approved for Christina Gray, transportation supervisor; Evan Kotsalieff, building and grounds supervisor; and Rachel Thompson, EMIS coordinator/registrar/curriculum and instructional technology administrative assistant.
The board also approved the retirement of Manchester Middle School Principal James Miller. Superintendent Gary Hinton said Miller will return after going through the rehiring process.
In other business, the board approved:
• a $100 donation from Doug Hull to provide pizza to the softball team;
• 26 supplemental contracts;
• a service agreement between the district and Educational Service Center of Northeast Ohio for the 2025-26 school year;
• an agreement with Summa Health Systems and the district for sports medicine services;
• the end of the year transfers;
• the final expenditures for fiscal year 2025; and
• the temporary appropriations for the 2025 fiscal year.
The board will next meet July 15 at 5 p.m. in the MILL at Manchester High School, 407 W. Nimisila Road.

Green Local Schools Board approves traffic duty for GHS
GREEN — During the regular meeting June 30, the Green Local Schools Board of Education approved an invoice to the Summit County Sheriff’s Office in the amount of $21,136 for the 2024-25 traffic duty at Green High School. The funds will be paid through the safety and security levy.
Members of the board said that having an officer directing traffic in and out of the high school reduces congestion.
In other business, the board approved:
• the retirement of teacher Tallia Pavlich, effective June 25;
• the employment of the following teachers, effective Aug. 18: Ariel Davenport, Tierney Shumaker and Alicia Sobieski, Green Elementary School; Jacob Woodling, Green Primary School; and Reagan Dudones, Green Middle School; and
• an anonymous donation of $6,000 to the athletic department.
The Green Local Schools Board will next meet July 28 at 6:30 p.m. in Council chambers at the Central Administration Building, 1755 Town Park Blvd. The meeting may be viewed through a link on the board’s page at greenlocalschools.org.
