MAINE (WBNG) — The Town of Maine’s community came out in big numbers on Wednesday to wish an unconventional happy birthday to 12-year-old Carter Tull.
Carter, who suffered a major health crisis last week, cannot return to school until after Thanksgiving. But instead of missing out on birthday wishes at school, Tull’s family and friends thought of another idea.
“We had heard about Carter getting sick last week, said family friend Sara Morey. ”We made a Facebook post and social media took it from there.
Morey added that the post blew up on local Facebook groups and soon they were contacted by fire departments, ambulances and motorcycle riders to join the birthday parade.
Carter, who had no idea this was happening. He was blindfolded by his mom before arriving at the Town of Maine Park where the celebration happened.
“It was just a big surprise, I didn’t know anything,” said Carter.
Friends, teachers and family members made sure to stop by. Members of the community handed Carter gifts and cards through their car windows. His best friends handed cupcakes to drivers.
“Thank you for coming to support my best friend,” said Liam, one of Carter’s best friends.
Carter said that he was happy to see people he did and didn’t know and thankful for the support.
He said he’ll never forget his 12th birthday.
