CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Lydia Chatira of Harvard women’s basketball was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week following a trio of all-around performances, the league announced today.
Across three Crimson wins, Chatira averaged 6.0 points while shooting 42.9%, 4.0 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and a steal.
To open the week, the first-year posted a new career-high in points (7) and assists (5) while also adding four rebounds and a block in the Crimson blowout win over Northeastern.
The first-year starting point guard then provided a pair of strong performances during Harvard’s 2-0 weekend in Illinois. First, against Northwestern, Chatira added six points, four rebounds, two assists, and a steal. The following day, she contributed five points, four rebounds, three assists, and two steals to help Harvard hold off the Redbirds of Illinois State.
The honor is the first for Chatira and marks the second straight week that a Crimson student-athlete has received an Ivy League weekly honor after Harmoni Turner was named Player of the Week previously.
