Celina ISD board members announced early Tuesday that the district would release a redacted version of the third-party investigation into William “Caleb” Elliott, the former Moore Middle School coach accused of recording boys in the locker room, by the end of the week.

Jeff Gravely, Celina ISD board president, shared the news a little past midnight after the board spent a marathon five hours meeting behind closed doors in executive session during a special school board meeting Monday.

“The board has received [an] extremely large amount of information with the investigative report,” Gravely said. “The district is in the process of preparing the report to disclose as much … as possible, to provide transparency to the community regarding the findings.”

Gravely said the board will continue its discussion of the third-party investigation to ensure a thorough review at its next meeting on Jan. 20.

He said the board would release the redacted version of the report by the end of the week, taking “measures to ensure the confidentiality of witnesses’ identities.”

Elliott was previously charged with eight federal counts of sexual exploitation of children, including producing child pornography. He has been accused of recording boys in the locker room during his time as a football coach at the middle school.

The third-party investigation that the board plans to release was initiated by the school district in October after allegations against Elliott came to light. So far, Celina ISD officials have maintained that no one employed by the district was aware of Elliott’s behavior.

Carrie Braxton, a mother of two boys who attend Moore Middle School, said during public comments at the board meeting that she and other Celina parents were waiting to find out the results of the third-party investigation.

“It has been 108 days since 38 families got the call the pictures of our boys in various states of undress were identified on Caleb Elliot’s phone,” Braxton said. “We have been very patient.”

Paul Herz, a lawyer who represents families of 12 of the victims, said more than one student has left the district and is now being homeschooled. Those still at Moore Middle School are disturbed and many have been going to therapy, according to the lawyer.

“A lot of them can’t go in that locker room … or have anything to do with the sports program at Celina ISD,” Herz said.
