The Career Expo & Volunteer Fair takes place on Thursday, February 12, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the West Gym in the Recreation & Wellness Center building. The event brings together more than 60 organizations, offering students the chance to network about post-graduation, full-time career-related positions, as well as summer jobs, internships, and volunteer opportunities. Additionally, lunch will be provided while supplies last.
“The Career Expo & Volunteer Fair is a long-standing event that helps students see what’s possible during their time at Cal Poly Humboldt and after!” says J.d. Garza, Director of the Career Development Center. “At this event, participants will have the opportunity to explore paid employment opportunities, internships, and volunteer experiences. It is a great place to build professional connections and to engage with employers before and after graduation!”
To help students prepare, the Career Development Center encourages attendees to dress professionally. Students in need of professional attire can visit the Career Clothing Closet at Oh SNAP!, which offers free, gently used professional clothing in a wide range of shapes and sizes. Appointments are required and can be scheduled by emailing ohsnap@humboldt.edu. Please note that non-career clothing items are not included in the free offerings.
During the Expo, students can also take advantage of free, studio-style professional headshots from an on-site photographer, perfect for updating LinkedIn profiles and other professional platforms. The Career Development Center will also host a series of resume-refresh events in March and April, during which staff and faculty will be available to review students’ resumes.
The Career Expo & Volunteer Fair is open to students from all majors and class levels and is designed to support career exploration, professional development, and community engagement. Students are encouraged to come prepared with resume print-outs and questions for employers, share their interests, and learn more about opportunities beyond campus.
