BRUNSWICK COUNTY, N.C. (WECT) – Brunswick County Schools says a student at an elementary school recently injured a teacher using a pair of scissors.
In a news release, BCS said the injury was non life-threatening. The teacher was helped by a School Resource Officer who provided immediate first aid.
The teacher is reportedly doing well and currently recovering at home. The school district said they are using this time to investigate and review safety protocols to help prevent similar situations in the future. They are also offering counseling services to both students and staff.
“The safety of our students and staff is our top priority, and we are handling this situation with the utmost seriousness,” the release said. “We ask for privacy for all involved and appreciate the community’s understanding as we work through this situation.”
