Detroit Lions quarterback Jared Goff is nearing a special event in April, and he’s celebrating the news online.
Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions are in the offseason, and that gives the franchise quarterback a chance to do things outside of the league. During the summer months, players get free time to spend with their families and do career-related things that don’t interact with their NFL contracts.
When it comes to the Lions, Goff said following the team’s final game of the season against the Chicago Bears on January 4 that it felt good to win, even though the team didn’t make the postseason. The Lions beat the Bears that day in a 19-16 final score.
“I think it is nice to finish on a high note,” he said in a postgame press conference. “I don’t know if there is a reality of that carrying into April. I hope there is.”
Goff added, “I think it’s different circumstances than in 2022, when we were kind of on that long run, trying to make the playoffs and just missed it by a game. This year, we had higher expectations. So, you come up short.”

On April 18 and 19, Goff will host his first youth camp experiences. He’ll host youth camp experiences through FlexWork Sports on April 18 in Grand Rapids and Saginaw, Michigan. He’s also holding a camp on April 19 at Bloomfield Hills High School, but that event is also sold out.
“Looking forward to getting on the field and making unforgettable memories together,” Goff said in his announcement, adding that people may register through FlexWork Sports’ official website.
Goff has a strong work ethic, and he’ll bring that to these camps with youth. New Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Drew Petzing discussed Goff’s with ethic when he was hired.
“I’d be hard-pressed to say that anyone works harder than he does at the game of football or trying to perfect his craft, just in my short time getting to know him a little bit,” Petzing said on Tuesday. “So, I think that’s a big piece of my excitement and kind of what I’m looking forward to here over these next couple of months.”

When Petzing was hired back in January, he talked about not only working with Goff but also with Mike Petzing. Speaking with reporters, he said that’s part of why he was excited to take the gig.
“I think he does all those things. I think that’s certainly one of the reasons we picked him to join this staff,” he said. He also said that that he and Kafka “don’t have big egos” and when you get guys like that together “that have high capacity, that are adaptable in the way that they do things, and are confident in how they’ve done them, and are able to explain that, ultimately, I think our goal is to get to the best, final answer. And the more people and the more creativity you have, Mike being a huge part of that, I think it helps all of us.”
So, while changes will be made this season, don’t expect many to happen involving Goff. He’s solid right now.
