The Immokalee Foundation recently announce it has received a $50,000 grant from Collier Community Foundation; earmarked to support the Career Pathways career development initiative.

Career Pathways prepares students for high-demand, well-paying professions by providing internships, mentors, industry-recognized credentials, academic support and university, college, or technical school scholarships.

“The Immokalee Foundation’s educational programs positively impact Immokalee’s families — and subsequently Southwest Florida — by giving our students a pathway to life-changing careers,” said Noemi Y. Perez, Immokalee Foundation President and CEO.

“Career Pathways programming aligns with Southwest Florida’s workforce’s needs by preparing our students to assume key roles in critically needed professions. We are profoundly grateful for Collier Community Foundation’s longstanding support. Our alumni’s financial independence creates a ripple effect that improves the lives of their families and community.”

Joy of Giving has super successful season

From writer Jill Yris:

“Every year something phenomenal happens right here in our neighborhood. But shh! It’s a secret. Very early in the morning, on a secret day and at a secret venue, certain pre-selected parents were able to choose Christmas gifts for their children, their shopping carts were filled to the brim, smiles on their faces, tears in their eyes. Imagine a parent struggling to pay bills, knowing there will be no gifts under their lonely tree.

“$140,000 was raised so that a parent spent $150 a child. And it gets better. How many local children received free gifts from The Joy of Giving? 925!”
